I’ve lost my cooking mojo, and I want to get it back.
I used to enjoy cooking, and could whip up a decent, reasonably healthy meal after work, using whatever we had in the kitchen (which is generally well stocked) in around 30 minutes or so. Not any more. I’ve lost the inspiration and the desire. Now I look in the fridge and cupboards … and nothing. I’m hoping that by committing to doing this blog, I’ll force myself into the kitchen and reignite that spark.
So what happened? Well, in a word, work. I had a soul destroying, life sucking job that at the end of each day left me feeling empty, like a zombie. Food became stuff I just shoved in my mouth so I wasn’t hungry, and I didn’t much care what it was. Luckily, my partner took over most of the cooking duties. Now things have changed. We sold our house, I quit my job, and we moved interstate where we are currently renting. The only real downside to our rental is the tiny kitchen, more of a kitchenette really. There’s not a lot of room to move and create.
So why rent a house with a tiny kitchen? Because it’s pet friendly and pet friendly rentals, ones where the animals are actually allowed inside, are hard to find. That was our top priority.
Really this is a selfish project, it’s about doing something for me, but you might get something out of it too. Hopefully you’ll get some inspiration and tips for plant based meals, and will enjoy some of the creations I’ll be sharing. I’ll also be linking to recipes on sites that I find inspiring, and welcome you to share your plant based creations and recipe links with me.
It won’t all be meals made entirely from scratch, though hopefully there will be some. I heartily endorse the use of things in jars and packets and the like to help put something together quickly.
Now here we are in a beautiful part of the country, with lots of farmers markets and fresh local produce, it’s time to get back in the kitchen!
