The basil in our fledgling vegie garden had started to flower, so it was time to give it a haircut to try to stop it from going to seed. Steve cut it back and we ended up with rather a lot of fresh basil leaves in need of a purpose.
My initial thought was a batch of pesto. After all basil = pesto, right? Well yes, but then I thought about it a bit more and decided not to make pesto. Not that I have anything against pesto, I love the stuff! It’s just that basil has a lot more uses than that. To make it more versatile I decided to just mince the leaves in my mini processor and freeze the cubes.
